Vivienne Dogan Corringham and her group ‘Shimal’ deliver a collection of traditional Turkish pieces played on contemporary instruments (guitar, bass, percussion, drums, violin, saxophone, accordion) while the melodies are unchanged from the original and the songs are sung in Turkish. For fans of Turkish music as well as for newcomers to the genre this will be a refreshing alternative to purely traditional music.
