This album is the combined work of Martti Pokela, Eeva-Leena Sariola and Matti Kontio. Professor Pokela has made it his life’s work to collect & preserve the traditional music of Finland, while composing new pieces for the Kantele. Matti Kontio is greatly responsible for popularising the Kantele and developing new playing methods. On the album there are 17 pieces, both traditional and new, played on 5-string, 9-string, and 36-string Kanteles and the Jouhikko (bowed Lyre.)
