Field recordings made in 1962 and 1968 by ethnomusicologist Deben Bhattacharya, presenting a great variety of music and indigenous instruments such as raga-based songs with sarangi, tabla and harmonium; percussion ensembles with various drums (nakkara, dholak, tasha, tabla and mridang). Instrumental pieces with sahnai (oboe), karnai (horn) and naubat (large kettle drum); chant-like a cappella songs; tribal morchang (Jew’s harp) players. Dances, religious songs, wedding songs and more.
