The Bagpipes of Celtic Galicia - Os Rosales |
Galicia is a Celtic region in the North of Spain. One of the main folk instruments there is a bag pipe. These pipes are often played together with flute, accordion, and a bass and a treble drum, and frequently used to accompany singing. The group Os Rosales was founded more than forty years ago by Pepe Romero, today known as one of the best bag pipe players of Galicia. The group consists of three bagpipes, accordion, flute, tambourine, drum and vocals.

Pipes and Drums from Celtic Brittany - Bagad du Moulin Vert |
The Bagad du Moulin Vert was formed in 1951 and began to compete in Grade 4 of the National Championships in 1982. By 1988 they had progressed to winning the championship in Grade 3. Moving up into Grade 2 they became champions in 1991 and 1994. Since 1995 they have been in Grade 1 and they have constantly been among the twelve best groups of Brittany. The music is very varied using other wind instruments in addition to the pipes, such as bombardes (kind of oboe from Brittany), Biniou-koz (pipe with one drone) plus various percussion in addition to the traditional drums.
