Zarbang is a world percussion ensemble representing the finest percussionists from Iran and Afghanistan. Inspired by tribal rhythms, Zarbang creates a new sound utilizing instruments of various cultures while staying true to the essence and origin of each instrument. Zarbang's sound is dynamic, meditative and internal as well as ecstatic and trance-inducing, drawing upon Sufi and ancient Persian rhythms used for inducing altered states.

Again I was touched by the persian music, so deep, so spirtual, and so honest in each little detail.

This album is absolutely incredible and has left me longing to see the performers doing a live show. Although the title suggests that it is purely percussion, it has other instruments as well, such as the santoor (dulcimer) which gives it a distinct mid east flavour. It is impossible to keep still whilst listening to the tracks and the enthusiasm of the performers comes across really well.
