Rash Behari Datta is well-known not only as a celebrated sitar player but also as a composer numerous pieces of light music and of film music with awards in Zaragoza, Spain and at the Berlin International Film Festival to his credit. On this second CD with ARC Music he plays 2 Ragas: Raga Bilaskhani Todi, very popular in India today, and Raga Mishra-Bhairavi a lighter raga. In Bilaskhani Todi he plays ALAAP followed by a slow and a fast composition set to JHAPTAL (10 beats) and EKTAAL (12 beats) respectively – a morning raga. Mishra-Bhairavi consists of ALAAP followed by a GAT in SITAR KHANI TAAL (16 beats). The booklet informs in 4 languages.
