‘Jontef’ (Yiddish - means ‘day of celebration’) met in 1988 at the state theatre in Tübingen, Germany. They play Klezmer music - the music of the klezmorim, the Yiddish wandering musicians, and they sing Yiddish songs.
The music tells about the old world of the Eastern European ‘Stetl’ (ghetto) about the fools and idlers, the coachmen, the jokers (Badchn) and about the teachers (Melamed) with their dreams and longings, their happiness and vitality.
