Presenting one of the world’s greatest music festivals. The Tiurai, July Fete, of “Heiva i Tahiti” is a spectacular annual inter-island dance and singing competition held in the capital Papeete. Fourteen revelling days and nights of non stop performance! This album includes performances of drum dances (Otea), action songs (Aparima), gospel chants (Himene Tarava) and the delightfully bawdy street ballads (Ute). The Tiurai is sponsored by the Tahiti Tourist Promotion Board (OPATTI) and the Territorial Cultural Office (OTAC).
