Field recordings made in 1955 and 1960 by ethnomusicologist Deben Bhattacharya. Recorded in Bedouin camps in the desert no-man’s land between Jordan and Iraq. Communal coffee grinding and drinking ritual in the tents after sundown. Pictures and an excerpt from Bhattacharya’s journal, plus extensive notes about music and instruments in four languages.
